NSTP Diliman Office Strategic Planning
The NSTP Diliman Office conducted a strategic planning workshop to successfully launch the office’s year-long initiatives. This workshop provided an essential platform for thorough discussions on specific plans and goals for each staff member, setting the stage for a productive year. It also emphasized personal development aligned with individual roles and responsibilities, reinforcing a unified approach as the team embarked on its 2024 objectives.
The workshop was particularly meaningful due to the recent expansion of the office, with four new staff members joining at the end of the previous year and the appointment of a new Officer-in-Charge Director. Amid these changes, the workshop achieved its goal of strengthening unity among NSTP Diliman Office staff. Despite the challenges of transition, efforts to promote a shared vision and mission were successfully realized.
Aligning Core Values
The NSTP staff were able to identify and articulate their core values, which aligned with the principles embedded in the mission of national service. This process served as a foundation for our shared commitment to the office’s primary mission.
Discussion of Policies and Administrative Matters
The workshop included thorough discussions on specific guidelines and policies within the NSTP Diliman Office, including work schedules, expected outputs, and other administrative issues. This clarified and reinforced operational efficiency through a better understanding and adherence to established policies.
Implementation of Improvement Procedures
Mechanisms were put in place for the ongoing assessment and enhancement of operational processes. These improvements also supported better project planning and implementation for 2024.

Tatak UPD Writeshop: Updating Materials Towards More Inclusive and Timely NSTP Resources
The “Tatak UP Diliman NSTP” embodies the identity of the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) as a public university dedicated to serving the people. To maintain quality education, the NSTP Office at Diliman continually enhances the common modules and other resources for improved NSTP implementation within the university.
On July 10, 2024, the “TATAK UPD NSTP Writeshop: Updating Materials Towards More Inclusive and Timely NSTP Resources” was held in the IE-ME Conference Room, UPD, led by OIC-Director Olivia G. Sicam. Discussions were provided by Sir Gil “Ka Jake” Espenido, focusing on Education and Service, with facilitation by Dr. Rosella M. Torrecampo, assisted by Sir Ian Lawrence Logan, covering topics on OBE (Outcome-Based Education), common module categorization, and open suggestions regarding NSTP implementation in the university.
During the writeshop session, suitable and up-to-date materials for students were reviewed. The aim was to ensure more inclusive and effective topics, aligned with RA 9131, the UP Charter of 2008, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). After categorizing the common modules based on discussions, the NSTP Office hopes the updated syllabi version will be approved, addressing the needs of each college or unit offering NSTP at UPD.
Sincere gratitude goes to Director Pinpin-Macapinlac of the Office of Field Activities (OFA) and former director of the NSTP Diliman Office for her insights and historical context of the Writeshop in NSTP, having initiated it in 2019. Special thanks also to Asst. Prof. Lagria, Chair of the Department of IE, for his unwavering support in hosting meetings and workshops for the NSTP Office in the IE-ME Conference Room, facilitating meticulous planning and effective execution of the office’s activities.
